Should I get the black macbook or the white macbook?

Boy! does this sound like a racest question... I have heard that one has better specks then the other yet I have also heard that one performs better in certain situations. It is said that overall the black macbook has better specks bus speed and hard drive but the white one is faster in certain situations. One costs more and I'd really like to know if anyone has the real facs about this.

you can add items that makes the white macbook just as powerful as the black. the only difference is the color, and it costs more. I recommend just adding the extra hard drive and extra ram, it will be cheaper in the long run.

From hearsay (other students who have white and black macbooks, Etc.), it seems like the black macbooks generally have less problems than the white ones. My white MB has freaked out twice, once requiring a new hard drive and the most recent requiring an erase and re-install of the OS. (And I've only had it since the end of December). But this could just be my particular machine (I didn't customize it; just got one of the ready-built ones from my university's computer store) The black one does have slightly better specs, but like the above poster said, if you customize it, the white one can basically be the same thing. The white one does pick up a lot of dirt, though. I have a black dog, and I bring my macbook to and from class each day, and you can definitely tell both of these things. (That might not matter to you, and it doesn't matter that much to me, but it does annoy some people.)

It doesn't matter which Macbook you get. Both have the same guts. The only difference is the upper/lower case, and the lid. I'm recommending customizing the white Macbook how you want. Don't get your memory from Apple though. They'll rip you off. I got 2gb of memory from Crucial for $50.

The white mac book does indeed pick up a lot of dust and what not. I'm not sure about the black one, as I've only ever used one at an apple store. However, I find that once in a while, if you wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth, and then with a dry cloth, it feels brand new again. You want the lint free cloths for this. But I would also recommend going for the white. When I bought mine two years ago, the black was $150 more with identical specs. I think the difference is now $100.
